Details worth photographing on your wedding day
By evening, the day blurs beautifully. The details are how you get it back: the objects you chose over months, photographed before they were worn, opened, and lived in. Set them aside in one place the night before, and these are the ones I always look for.

The dress, before you
On its hanger, in a window’s light, still holding its shape and all that waiting. It is the last quiet moment the dress has to itself, and one of my favorite photographs to make. Bring a wooden or fabric hanger if you can. Plastic has a way of sneaking into forever.

The things with a story
Grandmother’s ring. The perfume you wore on your first date. A letter in handwriting you would know anywhere. These photographs matter because the objects came from someone, and someday the photograph will be how the story gets told. Tell me which pieces carry weight, and they will get their portrait.
Gather them the night before
A small box on the getting-ready table is all it takes: rings, stationery, jewelry, anything with a past. The rest of the list we will build together, because the details worth photographing are the ones that are yours.
